Medical Evacuation

Emergency Medical Evacuation (MedEvac)

Emergency Medical Evacuation Coverage Up To $150,000

If DAN Boater in consultation with a local attending physician determines that you or a covered family member requires emergency medical evacuation, DAN Boater will pay up to $150,000 per covered member directly to the provider for covered expenses incurred during evacuation.

Emergency evacuation does not include efforts to locate an injured member whose location is unknown or efforts to rescue a member from a dangerous situation or a location inaccessible by emergency services personnel. Emergency evacuation may begin only after the injured member is made available at a location which can be reached by emergency medical services personnel.

Medical Repatriation to Home Country

Medical Repatriation to Home Country Coverage Up To $25,000

If you or a covered family member suffers a medical emergency requiring inpatient hospitalization while traveling, DAN Boater will pay the covered expenses up to the benefit limit of $25,000 for transportation to the hospital of your choice within your home country.

In consultation with you and the treating physician, DAN Boater reserves the right to determine whether your medical condition is sufficiently serious to warrant medical transportation, whether the condition is stable enough to allow transportation without risking your health, and what mode of transportation is most appropriate.

This benefit begins when medical factors arise that require you or a covered family member to be transported to a different location for treatment or a higher level of care. To activate your Medical Repatriation benefit, you must contact DAN Boater to arrange and coordinate all repatriation services.

You may use this benefit once during any twelve month period.

Search & Rescue Expense Coverage

Search and Rescue Expense Coverage Up To $25,000

DAN Boater will provide reimbursement for search and rescue efforts up to the $25,000 benefit limit after receiving proof that a rescue service or agency has undertaken a search in an effort to save you or a covered family member who has disappeared while traveling. This benefit only provides reimbursement for required expenses incurred by organizations specially trained and approved to undertake search and rescue operations, such as the Coast Guard, local police, or other national or international services responsible for safety at sea. No benefits are payable for expenses already covered in total by a member’s primary insurance or expenses for services that do not ordinarily require billing.
