Emergency Hotline

24/7 Emergency Medical Hotline for Boaters

DAN Boater offers 24/7 Emergency Medical Hotline — 1-919-667-9111

Multilingual staff members at our Emergency Assistance Center provide 24-hour assistance if you or a covered family member suffers a medical emergency while traveling. Upon receiving a call, DAN staff will consult with those at the location of the emergency to assist in determining the best course of action. When possible and appropriate, our staff will also consult with your family physician. DAN will then organize a response to the medical emergency based on what we deem medically appropriate, including but not limited to recommending or securing the services of local physicians, arranging hospital confinement, or, in some cases, organizing medical evacuation or repatriation.

Some things to know before you call the Hotline:

  • If the situation is life-threatening or you need immediate rescue, contact the nearest emergency rescue service before contacting DAN Boater.
  • When you call DAN, the medic handling your call may make an immediate recommendation or ask to call you back after making arrangements at an appropriate medical facility. Either way, your call will be immediately tended.

If the DAN medic must call you back, you will be asked to wait by the phone. The return call may take 30 minutes or longer, as several calls may be necessary to facilitate your assistance
